Our Pastor

Pastor Lonnie Wiggins, born July 3, 1939, surrendered to the ministry November 10, 1956, at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Dinuba, California. He preached his first sermon 3 days later at the Dinuba church. His subject was "Christ Our Mediator" and was 12 minutes long. Lonnie and Eunice were married in September of 1957, after a long childhood courtship. They met in the 6th grade and they never dated anyone else. In September of 1958 they moved to Henderson, Texas, where Lonnie enrolled in seminary at Texas Baptist Institute and Seminary. He graduated from the seminary in June of 1962 with a Master of Theology degree.

Bro. Wiggins was called as pastor to County Line Missionary Baptist Church, Timpson, Texas. He accepted that pastorate and was ordained by the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Henderson in November 19, 1957. While in Texas, he served two other churches, Corinth Missionary Baptist Church and Grandview Missionary Baptist Church.

Bro. & Sis. Wiggins have been blessed by God with 3 children.

  • Brian was born to Bro. & Sis. Wiggins in June of 1961 in Henderson, Texas.

  • Cheryl was born while in Pittsburg, in June of 1964

  • Darla was born while in Sunnyvale, in March of 1970

Today, his children are serving the Lord as follows:

  • Brian & Missy Wiggins are serving at Cypress Missionary Baptist Church, Sacramento, California, and have two sons, Daniel and Philip.

  • Cheryl is serving at First Missionary Baptist Church, Redlands, California, with her daughter Kristen.

  • Collin and Darla Goodrum, are serving at First Missionary Baptist Church, Redlands, California, and have a son and a daughter, Aaron and Alyssa.

  • Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Sunnyvale, California (now Unity Missionary Baptist Church) (1968 - 1971)

  • Central Missionary Baptist Church, Downey, California (1971 - 1975)

  • First Missionary Baptist Church, Salinas, California (1975 - 1981)

  • Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Mission, Fremont, California (sponsored by Emmanuel Missionary Baptist Church, Hayward, California) (1981 - 1988)

  • Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, Waterford, California (1988 - 1993)

  • First Missionary Baptist Church, Redlands, California (1993 - Present)

Bro. Wiggins is actively involved in the work of Missionary Baptist churches throughout the State of California, as well as the American Baptist Association, serving as the Moderator of the Southern California Missionary Baptist Cooperative Association 1998-2002, and as Clerk of the California Cooperative Association of Missionary Baptist Churches since 1993, and as Recording Secretary of the American Baptist Association since being elected in June, 2000. He also serves on the Standing Missionary Committee of the American Baptist Association since 1998.

Bro. Wiggins has continuously placed God's will first in his ministry and family life. The First Missionary Baptist Church is very proud and supportive of her pastor and we look forward to continue serving under the leadership that God has placed in our midst.
